On Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 April, Serbia’s capital will welcome runners from across Europe and around the world for the second edition of this unique event – open to everyone, from passionate amateurs to elite athletes. Run shoulder to shoulder with top competitors chasing medals in the official European Championships for the marathon, half marathon, and 10 km. Whether you’re aiming for a title or simply the thrill of the race, you’ll be part of a truly inclusive experience. Route map
The marathon starts at the Royal Palace in Brussels, the heart of Europe. An undulating course then takes you straight to Leuven. A 10 km city loop is followed by a heroic finish at the Parkpoort, the exact same spot where the Road World Championships finished in 2021. The half marathon and 10 km set off from Leuven and cross the city and wider surroundings.

Frequently asked questions

Can I register for the 2025 European Running Championships if I am not a European citizen?

Yes, you can, non-Europeans can participate in each distance. Their finish time will be included in the results but will not count towards the official individual, team or country rankings.

Can I register as a recreational runner for the European Running Championships 2025?

Of course, the European Running Championships 2025 are ‘open’ races. Both elite and recreational runners will compete for the European title. However, to be eligible for the official country ranking, you have to be at least 18 years of age for the marathon, 16 years for the half marathon and at least 14 for the 10K.

Where will the European Running Championships 2025 take place?

The marathon starts in Brussels (by the Royal Palace) and finishes in Leuven. The half marathon and 10K start and finish in Leuven.

When will the European Running Championships 2025 take place?

The European Half Marathon Championships will be held on Saturday 12 April, the European Marathon & 10K Championships on Sunday 13 April.
